Choose Easy, Medium or Hard, then hit the grid. Difficulty sets both the vocabulary and how quick your rivals are.
Text appears on screen. Type it exactly and your car moves — your typing speed is literally your engine.

What is Type Rush?
Type Rush is a free online typing game built around car racing. You race rival drivers and your car only moves when you type the on-screen text correctly, so practising your typing feels like playing rather than drilling.
How does my car move?
Speed is tied directly to your typing. Each correct character pushes the car forward, so the faster and cleaner you type, the quicker you travel. There is no steering or braking — the keyboard is the whole control scheme.
What happens if I make a typo?
Your car stalls until the mistake is corrected. That is why racing flat out and fixing errors as you go is usually slower than typing a little below your maximum and staying accurate.
When should I use boost or nitro?
Save it. Spending boost off the start line gains you very little because the field is still bunched together. Held back for the closing stretch, the same boost is often the difference between finishing second and first.
Does Type Rush actually improve my typing?
It is good at one thing in particular: teaching you to hold a steady pace under pressure. Because a single error stalls the car, the game rewards smooth, even keystrokes rather than bursts of speed followed by corrections — which is exactly the habit that helps in real typing.
Which difficulty should I choose?
Start on Easy if you type under about 40 WPM or are still learning the home row. Medium suits most people in the 40–60 WPM range. Move up to Hard once your accuracy sits above roughly 95%. If you win comfortably every time, you have outgrown that level.
Is it free, and do I need an account?
It is completely free with no sign-up. Your coins, cars and best WPM are saved in your own browser, so they stay on the device you played on and clearing your browser data will reset them.
Can I play on a phone or tablet?
It runs on mobile, but a physical keyboard makes for a far better race. On-screen keyboards cover part of the screen and slow you down, so a laptop or desktop is recommended.
